Giant Dragon Age Inquisition Patch Introduces New Features

Bioware’s critically acclaimed Dragon Age: Inquisition will be getting some new features via an upcoming patch.

This patch, the fifth one so far since the game’s release, is described in Bioware’s official blog as the biggest patch released thus far for Inquisition. In addition to a multitude of fixes, it will introduce an inventory storage chest, item tinting, and a shop called the Black Emporium.

The storage unit, which will be located in the Undercroft at the player’s headquarters of Skyhold, will allow players to store the tons of weapons, armor and knick knacks they’ve accumulated throughout their adventures. Previously, players had to discard or sell items once inventory space was used up.

Crafting materials already found in the game will have the added functionality of tinting armor, allowing for a greater deal of player customization.

Finally, the Black Emporium, which used to be a DLC item in Dragon Age 2, will serve as a boutique of sorts for players. This mysterious shop will allow players to purchase exotic materials, weapons and accessories, and, rather crucially, will allow players to change their player character’s appearance and voice through the Mirror of Transformation. Surely, this will come as a welcome relief to players who have become dissatisfied with their Inquisitor’s superficial qualities.

Other smaller inclusions include the ability to auto-attack, a mainstay of previous Dragon Age games that was stupidly left out of Inquisition, and the ability to adjust subtitle size and shader quality settings.

Prior to launching Patch 5, Bioware are hosting a closed beta for a select group of PC users. “We want to open up our upcoming Patch 5 to a select group of PC players via signup in a closed, developer-like environment,” the blog post reads, “This not only allows us to more quickly identify and respond to future issues, but gives our developers a great, new way to work directly with our players.”

Information on how to sign up for the beta will be revealed soon on the Dragon Age Keep.
