Ghostwire Tokyo Announces Xbox Release Alongside Content Update

Ghostwire Tokyo is getting a large content update releasing on April 12th. The update comes ahead of its addition to Xbox on April 12th as well, ending its PlayStation exclusivity. The content update was announced from Tango Gamerworks the developers behind Ghostwire Tokyo. The update is being titled ‘Spiders Thread,’ namely tied to a new game mode being introduced called ‘The Spider’s Thread’. The Spider’s Thread game mode is separate from the main campaign and will be available to players through the main menu. In the unique mode the devs outlined some of what to expect from a post on Bethesda.

“Players must navigate a 30-stage gauntlet assembled from over 130 handcrafted levels with one simple goal: get to the end. It won’t be easy, but making your way through levels and clearing challenges will help you earn crucial upgrades to become stronger. But beware: if you’re defeated during a run, you’ll have to start back from the beginning. However, this time you’ll have a portion of your upgrades retained. Descend the Spider’s Thread, unlock more skills, level up and conquer this game mode for skilled Ghostwire fans!”

Essentially, another rogue-like mode is coming to another game. Other games have included rogue-like updates in recent years thanks to the popularity of games such as Hades and Dead Cells. Games like Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Hitman 3 all saw rogue-like additions that shook up the formula of their gameplay.

Beyond that, Ghostwire Tokyo is getting new locations in the mainline story for players to explore, such as a middle school area described as ominous. There are also extended story cutscenes within the campaign that will enhance the world of Ghostwire as well. There are also new enemies and skills for hardened players to challenge with.

Ghostwire Tokyo released in March 2022 exclusively on PlayStation 5 and currently has an average Metacritic score of 75. The game was also recently announced to be included in PlayStation Plus Extra for March 2023.
