Genshin Impact Named Game of the Year by Apple and Google

Genshin Impact has been dubbed the game of the year by both Apple and Google. The huge free-to-play role-playing game has taken the mobile gaming world by storm. Developer miHoYo is more than happy with the feedback. The developer took to Twitter to announce their gift of 800 Primogems to all players of Genshin Impact — handing out 200 Primogems per day through December 3rd to December 6th.

The 2020 Google Play awards and Apple’s App Store Best of 2020 granted Genshin Impact the title of Game Of The Year this past week. Google’s listing explains the reason for the award, saying “any title crowned Best Game has to exceed expectations and deliver compelling, accessible, genre-defining experiences. Thankfully, this year’s winner does all this without missing beat.” This comes after the game made almost 400 million dollars in just two months after launch

In an interview with Gamesradar, miHoYo has big plans for the game. Genshin Impact has had only one major update with a second reportedly coming later this month. The developers saying they will continue to add more story content and it will “likely take years to complete.” The game’s setting, the country of Teyvat, has seven major cities. So far, players are only able to explore just two, Mondstadt and Liyue. The last five cities will be available to explore in future updates — all with their own quests for players to complete.

The awards for Genshin Impact aren’t stopping there. The Game Awards released their nominations for the 2020 year, and Genshin Impact has been nominated for two categories: Best Mobile Game and Best Role-playing Game. Fans will have to wait until December 10th to find out if the game will win these categories, and if miHoYo will be giving out free goodies in celebration. Genshin Impact is available to play now on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, mobile, and PC.
