One month ahead of release, The Coalition has announced that, Microsoft’s biggest release of the year, Gears 5 has officially gone gold. For those unaware, the term “gone gold” means that the game is ready to be sent to manufacturers for the making of the physical game disc. Head of The Coalition, Rod Fergusson, commented on the excitement of the milestone by saying, “This is furthest we have ever taken the franchise, living our studio mantra of ‘if you want to go far go together’.”

Along with the announcement that the game has gone gold, the game’s full list of 71 achievements has been revealed. Players will be able to earn these achievements across the game’s 5 different game modes of Campaign, Versus, Horde, Escape, and Map Builder. It was also revealed that Microsoft will be taking the game to Gamescom in a few weeks. During Microsoft’s Inside Xbox event, Gears 5‘s new Horde mode will be debuted to the public. Then, during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live a brand new story trailer will be shown off.
Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty also congratulated the studio for their hard work. He also commented on the technical prowess of the game by stating, “Not only is it the biggest Gears ever, it’s also the most technically refined, with 4K HDR gameplay at 60 frames per second on Xbox One X, cross-play across all modes on Xbox and Windows 10 and Steam, and updated accessibility features such as Adaptive Controller support. Together with day-and-date availability on Xbox Game Pass, we look forward to welcoming more players into the Gears universe than ever.”
Gears 5 is set to release worldwide on September 10 for Xbox One and PC. However, those that have Game Pass Ultimate or purchase the Ultimate Edition of the game will be able play it early on September 6.
