Gauntlet Reboot Announced For Sept. 3 Release, Pre-order Offers Revealed

Since March Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced that we would be getting a revival to the game Gauntlet sometime in the Summer. Warner Bros. Interactive now has announced today that the reboot to the classic 4 player co-op dungeon crawler, Gauntlet, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, will be released on Linux and Windows via various PC digital download platforms this September 3rd. The game will cost $19.99 for a Steam Play copy that is valid across both platforms.

Along with the announcement, details were given that if you pre-order, you will get a free digital comic Gauntlet: Darkness Calls from DC Comics that will be given on launch date. Warner Bros. has also mentioned offering full SteamOS support for whenever Valve releases its Steam Machines.

Darkness Calls will dive into the center of the story of the villain, Morak. “Morak’s hordes will tremble at the Warrior’s feet when he dons these horrific implements of mayhem.” Players will be trying to get Morak’s gauntlet in order to recover the Sacred Orb that was stolen. You can see the cover of Gauntlet: Darkness Calls above.

You will also get other pre-order items from various retailers. From Steam, Azkog the Demon Slayer battle axe and Reaper’s Visage helmet will be coming with pre-orders. On Amazon you will be able to get the Giant’s Bane axe. Finally on GameStop you will be getting the Juggernaut of Hakura hammer with your pre-orders.

The game will offer four fantasy classes — Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie and Elf — and those characters special abilities that will help out with working together to clear out procedurally generated dungeons. Whether playing local or online co-op multiplayer, battle the endless hordes of foes for treasure and glory. For more on Gauntlet, check out the trailer and our previous article on the reboot for Gauntlet.
