It’s been a long time since we heard about From Software’s upcoming new IP Elden Ring. The game was originally announced at E3 2019, and the company hasn’t really touched on what’s going on with it since. Well, the company has given the fans a huge sigh of relief as they tweeted that the game still exists and that they are still working on it. Despite not giving any concrete information or any insight into how the development has been, this alone is exciting to see as fans of the Soulsbourne series are among the most die-hard out there.
Of course, From Software made this announcement in a Twitter thread for another one of their titles; Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. At first, the tweet was talking about new update that the game had just received while thanking the fans for their support for the award-winning title. Then, out of nowhere, the company adds to that the aforementioned Elden Ring tweet, which in hindsight is a very From Software thing to do. Either way, this sent the fans into a frenzy, especially for the Elden Ring Reddit page, which can get pretty crazy sometimes.
Elden Ring, which began development shortly after the last expansion for Dark Souls III was completed, has been described as the company’s biggest venture to date, with the studio’s main man at the head of the project once again; Hidetaka Miyazaki. Apparently, the game will also focus on action and more RPG elements as opposed to the earlier Dark Souls titles and Bloodborne. Miyazaki himself has called the game “an evolution of the Dark Souls series” something that a lot of the fans take to heart. The Game Awards are right around the corner, and with a lot of surprises already promised for that night, hopefully, Elden Ring will be one of them.
