From the creators behind the popular platforming game, Celeste comes a new 2D action-exploration game called Earthblade. Earlier today, Extremely OK Games gave us a teaser of what to expect from their new game in blog post on their website.
Much about Extremely OK Games’ new game is unknown, however, they did give a number of art pieces and music to give sense of what the feel of the game will be like or as they call it, a “vibe reveal.” If the snippet of music sounds familiar, it is probably because the same artist, Lena Raine, that worked on the soundtrack for Celeste is also a part of Earthblade. The concept art and logo were created by Pedro Medieros who also has a past working with Extremely OK Games on other titles like Towerfall and Celeste. Looking at the poster we can glean some limited information. There appear to be massive trees that have essentially overtaken the buildings and civilization and a whole, and considering that there is a sword in the logo a combat system will probably be implemented. But we will have to wait a while to get more clarification about what the title is about. The rest of their announcement consists of the making of the game to this point in development, mentioning that it took four prototypes before landing on what Earthblade is now.
As of right now, there is very limited information out about Earthblade and given the ambiguous release date of 20XX, it is fair to say that fans will be waiting a while to get their hands on Extremely OK Games’ upcoming title. There is also no information about which platforms it will be available on.
