The legendary French footballer is going to be making an appearance in NBA 2K17. Thierry Henry has been involved in the promotion of NBA 2K17, lending himself as part of the “Love/Hate Kobe” advertising for the game. Henry himself admits to admiring Kobe Bryant, who has often expressed his love and admiration for the game of football. Henry is the latest celebrity to have involvement with this latest game in the NBA 2K series. Thierry Henry’s NBA 2K17 Kobe Bryant promo can be viewed below.
The former Arsenal and France star will mostly be in the game as a celebrity fan at San Antonio Spurs games, most likely to cheer on his good friend and fellow Frenchman, Tony Parker. Henry will also be playable in NBA 2K17’s Blacktop game mode. He can be used in everything from 1v1 up to 5v5. How good Henry’s stats will be or how they will translate his skills on the pitch to how he performs on the court is yet to be seen. When asked about how he felt being in the game Thierry Henry responded by saying, “Being a basketball and NBA fan since I was a kid, I’m honored to be the first football player ever to be playable in NBA 2K17.”
Thierry Henry, for those, if any, who are unaware is one of the greatest footballers of all time. Not only does he hold multiple all-time goal scoring records, list of individual as well as team accomplishments that could fill a book, but he also helped lead the French national team to a FIFA World Cup victory in 1998 against a stacked Brazilian team. It is also worth noting that he was only 20 years old when he accomplished this.
Unfortunately, the inclusion of a playable celebrity in the game does not mean a return of the celebrity team like the one in NBA 2K13, which included everyone from JB Smoove to Justin Bieber to DJ Pauly D and Vinny from The Jersey Shore. Other celebrities in NBA 2K17 include Michael B Jordan and Hannibal Buress who both appear in the MyCareer trailer which can be viewed below.
NBA 2K17 is going to be released September 20th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. NBA 2K17 is also currently available for pre-order with various bundles. NBA 2K17 can also be played early by anyone who places a pre order.
