Free DLC Ricochets Toward Ionball 2: Ionstorm

Developed by independent Ironsun Studios and published by the correspondingly indie Kiss Ltd., Ionball 2: Ionstorm has a new and free DLC update. The update, titled “Tower Assault,” accompanies the considerable success of the Breakout-derived arcade platformer, according to a press release from the game’s developing and publishing studios.The PC title, available on Steam, had a fresh game mode annexed onto it with the new update. The mode is a 30 level, ‘survival style,’ one. A high spot on the leaderboards is contingent upon the duration of time before all lives are lost. Defeated enemies drop coins that increase score and power-ups that assist the player in several ways, which will remain a surprise. After clearing all 30 levels the game can be restarted, where difficulty will be adjusted slightly higher and the player’s score is added to the leaderboards.

Aside from the major game variant, “Tower Assault” comes equipped with several enhancements and features. A top-down view, ‘classic’ mode, is made available for those affected by the process of habituation. Explosions can be switched off for those who find them obtrusive or distracting, because, unsurprisingly, they are explosions. Those with both an Xbox controller and a means of connecting it to their PC can now find functionality in Ionball 2:Ironstorm, for a subjectively more comfortable or familiar vibe.

Much like the clearing of a level’s first brick, even more features of the DLC have yet to be broken-down. New music was added, to keep your ears interested as well. Re-spawn time of the bat has been cut in a nice half, so you can purposefully kill it twice and say, “that would have taken as long as one would have.” A ‘wave’ system was also implemented. The setup is three waves per level, which increases the pacing of the game, according to a release.
