Fortnite Comet Finally Hits; Map and Gravity Altered for New Season

Since the beginning of April, Fortnite players have noticed objects resembling meteors burning up in the skybox. This has led to speculation, data mining, and the impromptu destruction of Tilted Towers by group of players. Now, at the end of April and the end of Battle Pass Season 3, the eagle, or rather, the comet, has landed, and the Tilted Towers are still standing.

Where the comet did hit, however, is an area of the map known as Dusty Depot, but it is now known as Dusty Divot. Scattered around the primary impact point are rocks that make the area a low gravity zone. It’s not uncommon at the moment to see players messing around with the low gravity instead of fighting each other. But this is only at first, of course.

Dusty Depot/Divot isn’t the only area changed by the impact. Other areas on the map have been affected in smaller ways complete with low gravity rocks, and a new area can be found in the north part of the map. This area called ‘Risky Reels’ appears to be the drive-in movie theater seen in the Season 4 announcement trailer.

Also, a whole new bunch of Battle Pass objectives have been added. Most of these are the kinds players are used to, but there are also some challenges as part of the Save the World questline. Participants can unlock a new outfit and a new pickax. Players who want to dress up as “Carbide” will have to get up to Level 65 among other things, and the “Blockbuster” pickax challenges require players to complete every challenge for up to seven different weeks. The new challenges and cosmetic items give this season the feel of a superhero genre.

For those who wish to see all the changes and fixes, you can read about all of them in the official changelog here.
