For Honor Player Base Drops 95%

When For Honor, Ubisoft’s hack and slash fighting game, first premiered, it was one of the most anticipated games of the year. After the hype died down, the player count dropped by half in just two weeks! Pretty significant, but surely some new content will bring those players back, right? But according to recent report from PCGamesN, 3 months after the launch of For Honor and following the release of two new heroes, the player base has still dropped by a staggering 95%.

This is all a little too familiar for Ubisoft, who suffered a similar player drop off last year after the release of the highly anticipated online shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division. Three months after the release of that game, it had lost 93% of its player base. Now, it appears For Honor has just turned into a bigger bomb.

For Honor had a pretty rough launch when it first came out. Various technical issues, as well as problems with the game’s matchmaking service, lead to over half of the game’s players to give up and leave on Steam. It’s at this point that For Honor‘s player base drop started to match The Division‘s same trend from a year ago, leading some people to predict this game’s inevitable downfall.

Back when it was first announced, many gamers were excited for the multiplayer fighting experience For Honor would provide. The beta debuted at #1 on Twitch, reaching as high as 146k viewers. Once gamers got to experience it for themselves, however, viewer count quickly dropped by 62% after the first week.

Maybe Ubisoft can still save For Honor with consistent updates, the way The Division ultimately got back its players. If not, at least this game did better than Battleborn ever did.
