Planetside 2, the massive online shooter, is finally getting an new update and its sizable. It will be the first major update to the free-to-play, science-fiction game since 2016. The loyal developers at Daybreak Game Company surprisingly shared this information in a community article yesterday and what’s more is that the New Soldier Game Update is live today.
Daybreak says that the “most significant part of this update is the change to Planetside 2’s renderer, which has been upgraded from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11. What’s also on the way is the new Nanite Systems Operative faction and a new alert system. The new alert focuses on producing cortium to rocket launch sites and this will give players access to the new Wasp vehicle in another future update.
More about the Nanite Systems Operatives, this new faction is a group of robotic mercenaries that side with the lowest populated empire in each fighting zone. What this allows for is players joining into the battle without the waits that were present before the update. At the time of the New Solider launch, the new faction will only be available to Planetside 2 members. Check out more specifics on these Operatives:
The most player-friendly update to the game will be how new fighters will be thrown into their new experience. As the developers put it, “Planetside 2 can be a challenging game to get ramped up on” and because of that the tutorial is being adjusted. New, lower ranked players will now automatically be placed into what they are calling Mentor Squads upon login. Daybreak is encouraging its veteran players to form these Mentor Squads and be representatives of the game. Those who stand out as positive influencers will be reached out to so that they can participate in community spotlight features, maybe as a potential avenue for an increase in the streaming world.
Those players that have Planetside 2 downloaded can hop into the new update today.
