First Contact Entertainment, Developers Of Firewall & Solaris: Offworld Combat, Is Shutting Down

First Contact Entertainment, developer of the Firewall series and the upcoming Solaris: Offworld Combat II  has announced that they are shutting down. Over on the developer’s official Facebook account, they released a statement saying “After almost 8 years of working with the most amazing team I’ve ever have the pleasure of being part of, I’m sad to announce that we will be closing our company First Contact Entertainment by the end of the year.”

“The lack of support for VR within the industry has eventually taken its toll, As a AAA VR game developer, we are just not able to justify the expense needed gouging forward. We are a team of fearless innovators willing to push new technologies to its limits. I am extremely proud of the team and grateful to our investors, our partners and of course our community of dedicated and passionate players. It’s been a wild ride, Thank You.”

First Contact Entertainment’s mission was to create compelling, immersive games and experiences through innovation in new technologies, including VR and beyond.

Firewall: Zero Hour is 4v4 multiplayer exclusive to PlayStation VR that featured up to eight players going face-to-face against each other in two teams of four, battling in exotic and dangerous key locations across the globe. The sequel, Firewall Ultrareleased earlier this year on August 24 for PS VR2. Players enlist as an elite contractor and step into a shadow-filled secret world of high-stakes multiplayer tactical espionage in the next evolution of the Firewall franchise. The sequel features customizable weapons and loadouts, and an array of high-tech equipment.

Solaris: Offworld Combat is fast-paced multiplayer shooter where esports and televised teams have evolved into playing on Virtual Holofields. Players assume the role of Athlon, part of an elite team of four, working to achieve legendary status in the fastest game around. The sequel was announced earlier this year.
