Nintendo Directs for specific games have the advantage of giving in-depth looks at the biggest titles coming to the console. The latest direct for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave takes after the presentation for Fire Emblem: Three Houses which it shares some characters and locations with by revealing a shocking twist partway through.
The direct quickly reacquaints players with the main characters of Cai, Theodora, Dietrich, and Leda revealed previously along with the country of Dagda that the game will take place in. Each character will take part in the Heroic Games under the watch of the Divine Sovereign Solel to fulfill their goal. They will all be given their own path, and players will be able to swap between each while maintaining progress. As is standard for the series, players will fight enemies in turn-based tactical battles with access to upgradable classes, different weapon types, and new combat abilities called Blaze Arts that are unique to the main characters. The game will also feature an in-depth preparation system that allows players to buy supplies, recruit army members from across the country, and explore dungeons for the chance to enter a new turn-based battle mode.
As the spirited tone of the Heroic Games fade, the trailer moves forward five years into the future to reveal a ruined world. All of the previous player characters are represented by withered statues, leaving an older Sothis from Fire Emblem: Three Houses to send the true main character, a mysterious shining figure clad in white feathers, to battle against the Demon God. From there, players are offered the choice to face the enemy alone or to travel back in time to save the four characters from the start to build a new army.
The presentation ends by confirming that more Fire Emblem content, such as music from the upcoming game and features on the Nintendo Today! app, will be available in the future. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has had many questions posed by the initial reveal answered and many more created by the latest Nintendo Direct. Players will have the answers to those questions when the game releases on September 17th, 2026, for the Switch 2.
