Final Fantasy XIV Now Has More than 24 Million Players, Is Now the Most Profitable Entry in the Entire Franchise

We’re slowly approaching the launch date for the final expansion pack of Final Fantasy XIV; EndwalkerThe game in general has made some amazing strides since it originally launched 11 years ago, especially since it was nearly destroyed completely. This was further emphasized by Director Naoki Yoshida, who spoke to IGN about some milestones that Final Fantasy XIV has accomplished. One of the bigger ones is that there are now more than 24 million players worldwide. Due to this insane influx of players over time, as well as new content being pushed constantly, Yoshida has claimed that Final Fantasy XIV is now the most profitable entry in the entire franchise.

Yoshida mentions that this was especially hard due to the original state of the game when it released. Thanks to that unbelievable turnaround, the developers were able to complete the ultimate comeback and turn the game into a major profit, “It’s perhaps unbecoming of me to say but in terms of our business, we’ve been able to achieve great success. Moving forward, we’re going to spare no expense with our investments to ensure that this game continues to be one which our players can enjoy.”

The original Final Fantasy XIV that launched in 2010, and was critically panned decimated by reviewers and gamers alike. It’s often considered one of the biggest flop releases in video game history. The company even issued a public apology at press conference saying that “The Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged.” Since bringing in Yoshida to revive the project, the game was “reborn” and has since gone on to become one of the most successful MMORPGs in history.

Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker launches next month on November 23. As we said earlier. this will be the final expansion pack released for the title. Of course, it will also be filled to the brim with content, at launch and post-launch. Yoshida also mentioned that they are already looking forward to the next ten years of content, meaning that the end of Final Fantasy XIV is far from over.
