Final Fantasy VII Remake Shipped & Sold Digitally More Than 3.5 Million Copies Worldwide In 3 Days

Today, Square Enix announced the highly-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake is a massive hit with fans and critics alike shipping and selling digitally more than 3.5 million copies worldwide in just three days. In the official press release, the company said: “Final Fantasy VII Remake is out, and a lot of you have spent many hours now exploring Midgar and taking the fight to Shinra. And when we say ‘a lot’, we mean it. More than 3.5 million copies of Final Fantasy VII Remake have been shipped or sold digitally in the first three days following its April 10 release. Digital sales, in particular, have been very strong, and continue to grow.”

So, with these results, it seems that Square Enix’s plan to release the game early has paid off. And with the current COVID-19 pandemic still affecting the industry, it’s no surprise that the game has done extremely well digitally. Square Enix also noted how well the game has done critically providing several examples of what some outlets are saying about the game. “That’s quite the figure, and it’s not the only big number the game’s seen. The game also received a terrific critical reception, with journalists around the world scoring it highly and singing its praises.”

Gamespot said, “This remake takes one of the most beloved games of all time and elevates it higher.”

Gamesradar+ calls it “a spectacularly entertaining introduction to the world of Final Fantasy VII for modern audiences.”

Techradar stated: “This game is so good that it should be considered the standard by which modern Final Fantasy games are measured, and for that, it will probably stay installed on our PS4 hard drive for a very long time.”

Easy Allies calls it “an excellent reimaging of a beloved classic.”

Twinfinite says that the game is “a gorgeous, well-made, and fun RPG that successfully retells one of the best video game stories ever told with a few twists.”

Empire wrote that Final Fantasy VII Remake is “one of the most breathtakingly realized and staggeringly beautiful games in years.”

The Verge calls it a “thrilling, thoughtful take on a classic.”

Square Enix ended the announcement with “and the list goes on, but we won’t – except to say congratulations to the entire Final Fantasy VII Remake development team for this well-earned achievement. And also a heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s picked up the game. We hope you continue to have a great time with it.”
