Final Fantasy 14 Livestream Features New FFXVI and Endwalker Details

Final Fantasy fans who tuned into the FFXIV livestream were surprised to hear some brand new details on where Final Fantasy XVI, the next mainline game in the franchise, was in its’ development cycle. Naoki Yoshida, a producer on Final Fantasy 16, has stated that the game’s story is entirely finished, with all events “set in stone.” The english voice overs for the game are also nearly complete. This is great news for anyone excited to get their hands on the next mainline Final Fantasy game, but fans might have to wait a bit longer before any official news or new footage from the game gets released.

During the same conversation, Yoshida said it was likely that Final Fantasy 16 would not make any appearance at the Tokyo Game Show 2021. Interpretations of Yoshida’s conversation imply that the producer wants to be sure that the game is completely ready before coming out with any new information, so if he doesn’t want to come to TGS, then its’ likely that the game is still going through heavy development.

The FFXIV livestream did also spend plenty of time going over some new gear that will be featured in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, the next upcoming expansion for FFXIV. A new artifact armor set was shown for nearly every job currently in the game, with only the reaper and sage jobs missing out. Along with the new gear, the Endwalker benchmark sequence was shown off, which includes gameplay from the new zones and battles coming to Final Fantasy 14 when Endwalker releases.

Players who preordered this expansion can get their hands on Endwalker on November 19th, while the rest of us will have to wait until the 23rd.
