Well the vets of the Guilty Gear series finally have something to be happy about, at EVO 2026 we were treated to the reveal trailer for series classic Robo-Ky for Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear: Strive.
No longer a head with helicopter blades, Robo-Ky is now equipped with a brand spankin’ new body powered by a single hercules beetle that works nearly as hard as an entire video game dev team, Robo-Ky comes equipped with a cool new arsenal: dual katanas alongside a… segway? And a bevy of guns, missiles, rocket arms, and taser rugs, Robo-Ky is looking to be a fun character with some absolutely insane animations to really make watching him on screen look fun.
And if you thought Robo-Ky looked tricky, well, you’d be right! Arc System Works were gracious enough to release his character guide not too soon after releasing his gameplay trailer at EVO, so if you’re curious just how his nuts and bolts work, you’ve got a good preview here:
Using an Electric Gauge meter to give him an extra resource and improve several of his specials, Robo-Ky can build his Electric Gauge meter through certain specials and then spend said meter on other specials; the gauge ranges from level 1 to 3 and at 3 Robo-Ky’s tools become truly busted. Now, veteran fighting game players may look at this mechanic and think, “well stock characters are usually really bad” and, yeah he’s probably going to struggle when he has no Electric Gauge, but part of the fun of stock characters is finding a way past that rough early game and get to the very snowball-y late game, and I expect a current year Strive character to be no different.
Robo-Ky is set to release very very soon, this Thursday July 2nd, 2026 in fact! So you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on this all new, better Robo-Ky.
