Evidence that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree May be Coming Soon Surfaces

Exciting things are happening for the Tarnished in the Lands Between. From Software’s Elden Ring has had a few memes made about it the past few months, having originally been released on February 25th, 2022 it’s almost been two years since players first stepped out into the sunny but desolate meadows of Limgrave. Two years is a long time for such an acclaimed game to go without any news for DLC, and for a while we weren’t even sure if the game would get an expansion that all From Software games tend to get, until February of last year where we finally got a name for the expansion: Shadow of the Erdtree. And now, news has been coming out that really point towards another big drop in February of this year, potentially the anticipated expansion itself.

As discovered by YouTuber Ziostorm above, there have been DLC files added to Elden Ring for the first time since launch. Something like this being added for the first time since launch certainly indicates a big change is coming soon, the type of change an expansion would provide.

Ziostorm discovers more evidence, seeing that the official Elden Ring EU account updated its YouTube playlist on the 4th of January, which could indicate that they’ve uploaded and hidden a video, possibly a trailer, in anticipation of a release date soon.

This evidence is all circumstantial, but an official account hiding a video for a future release and the files of the game being updated to include unknown DLC files certainly indicates that it very well might be the Shadow of the Erdtree itself. And keep in mind, both Elden Ring’s release and the announcement of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion came in February of 2022 and 2023 respectively, it would very much adhere to the pattern Fromsoft has set for the expansion itself to also come out in February.

Elden Ring players adore their game, but are starved for content. Just the mere whiff of news has sent the community into frenzy, and with all signs pointing to the expansion who can blame them?

Derek Lairmore: I've been playing video games and writing my entire life, so naturally I decided to combine the two passions. I love video games and video game culture, as far back as I can remember I've not only played them, I've actively participated in their communities. I hope my history in this hobby and my enthusiasm for writing helps me convey news to you accurately and succinctly.
