A European Commission filing on Friday confirmed by Reuters showed new remedies that Microsoft provided to the government regulator. The regulator along with the UK’s Competition Markets Authority and the US’s Federal Trade Commission, have laid out numerous concerns around Microsoft’s massive 68.7 Billion acquisition since January 2022.
Previously, the EU regulator pushed back its final decision on the deal to April 6, but due to Microsoft’s new remedies, the regulator has pushed the date back again to May 22, 2023. It will be repeating the process of receiving feedback from industry rivals and customers before making its final decision.
Microsoft has remained confident in its acquisition as it seeks remedies to assure the concerns of the deal’s detractors. While the European Commission is slowly beginning to come positively towards the deal, the FTC, CMA, and its biggest rival Sony have not budged in their stances. Regardless, Microsoft continues to push forward with its remedies, managing to sign off on deals with Nintendo, NVIDIA, Boosteroid and more.
“We have stood behind our promise to bring Call of Duty to more gamers on more devices by entering into agreements to bring the game to the Nintendo console and cloud game streaming services offered by Nvidia, Boosteroid, and Ubitus,” said Microsoft.
