Epic Games Announces Epic Rewards, Gives Players 5% Back On Eligible Purchases

Epic Games has announced new rewards program for those who make purchases through the Epic Games Store site. The Epic Rewards grants players ways to earn 5% back on every eligible purchase. The program starts the day it was also announced, May 18th and is available for free to all.

Players who make purchases on full-titled games, apps, add-ons, or virtual in-game currency are eligible to receive 5% back towards Epic Rewards, and into your personal Rewards Balance. Players can then apply their Epic Rewards to get a discount on future purchases, or just save their accumulated reward amount for later. However, those accumulated points do have an expiration date, after 25 months they will be removed from the account, so it’ll be wise to use the discount when best possible on a future purchase.

While Epic Games tries to compete with Steam— which Steam still remains far superior in player count and traffic— Epic Games has had a leg up for the past few years with their free games every week which has made the storefront a unique standout, giving out massive AAA titles like the Tomb Raider Trilogy, Death Stranding, GTA V, Cities Skylines, and hundreds more free games. All players need to do to obtain the weekly free games is merely make an Epic Games account, that’s it. Now with the Epic Rewards, it’ll give players an incentive to purchase directly from the Epic Games Store. Currently Steam has no rewards program, nor do they offer free weekly games. On Steam for those who make a purchase, get Steam points put into their account. They can be spent on profile cosmetics, chat emojis, and Steam Deck keyboards, Steam points also don’t expire.

The Epic Rewards program also coincides with the start of the Summer Mega Sale 2023, with huge swaths of discounts on hundreds of titles.
