ELDEN RING’s Release In The UK Was The Biggest Game Launch Since Red Dead Redemption II Not Counting FIFA Or Call Of Duty

ELDEN RING is the most popular game at the moment. FromSoftware’s latest is one of the best-reviewed games in recent memory and it has done so well financially that publisher Bandai Namco has given raise to their employees in Japan due to the game’s success. The latest digital and physical sales by GSD have revealed that ELDEN RING is the biggest UK video game launch since Call of Duty: Vanguard. Outside of Call of Duty and FIFA, ELDEN RING is the biggest game launch since Rockstar Games’ last title, Red Dead Redemption II.

The week one sales of ELDEN RING are more than what Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla did when they debuted in 2020. It’s also 2.5x bigger than the big PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West.

According to GSD, digital downloads accounted for over 68% of ELDEN RING’s sales, the biggest digital platforms being Xbox and PC. Almost 85% of ELDEN RING sales were downloaded on Xbox, for PC 73% was downloaded. On PlayStation, digital sales counted over 50%. According to GSD’s digital and physical numbers, 32% of sales were on PlayStation 5, 30% were on PC, 29% were on Xbox, and 9% of sales was on PlayStation 4.

Despite everything, it hasn’t all been perfect. ELDEN RING has received its fair share of criticism on PC with many writing negative reviews on Metacritic causing the user score to not match with what critics are saying. The most recent issue that players are facing has to do with save files and players losing their progress. People are having problems with the game on Steam. It’s asking whether or not a player wants to load up the cloud save or upload their local save. The issue with this is that the cloud save is usually out of date. Depending on what save gets downloaded, players can and have lost hours of progress.
