We’re less than a week away from EA’s special live showcase event. The EA Play Live is scheduled to go premier next week on Thursday, July 22, and will feature some of the company’s newest IP’s and updates to some new ones as well. Unfortunately, for those who were looking for a new Star Wars title, we have some bad news. The company has officially announced that they will not have any new Star Wars title to show during the event, instead foreshadowing to a possible reveal for sometime next year.

With the absence of BioWare’s Dragon Age and Mass Effect, that makes three of EA’s major franchises that will not be at the EA Play Live event. However, the bigger rumor is that the company will be ready to show us something that fans have been clamoring for a long time; a Dead Space Remake. The other IP that they’ll more than likely show is Battlefield 2042, which was officially revealed prior to E3 2021. Between now and then we’ve learned that parts of the multiplayer will be supported by the newly named Ripple Effect Studios, and that it will support cross-play between consoles.
Respawn Entertainment, which created the wildly successful Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, is reportedly working on a sequel. They’ve also recently released next-gen upgrades for those who are playing the current title on the PlayStation 5, or the Xbox Series X/Series S. Another possibility is that EA could return to the Battlefront franchise. They’ll more than likely look back at the arduous launch that was Star Wars Battlefront 2 in 2017 and hopefully not make those same mistakes. Whatever the future holds for the Star Wars video game franchise, it’s sure to generate a significant amount of interest, and we can’t wait to see what they’re working on.
