Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm Games have revealed that three new Star Wars games are being developed by Respawn Entertainment and will release in the upcoming future. Today, Electronic Arts announced that they are partnering with Lucasfilms Games to add three new games to the Star Wars universe, which will be developed by Respawn Entertainment. The three upcoming titles include a new installment to the Star Wars Jedi franchise, a new Star Wars first-person shooter, and a Star Wars strategy game.
Respawn Entertainment has developed games like Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and the Titanfall series. Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games, shared his feelings about Respawn Entertainment leading the development:
“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn. They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”
According to Electronic Arts, Respawn’s game director Stig Asmussen and his team are already working on the next installment for the Star Wars Jedi series, as Asmussen previously worked on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which was released in 2019. This means that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be getting a sequel soon.
Respawn will also be working on a FPS Star Wars game, where game director Peter Hirschmann will lead development. Hirschmann was previously the VP of development at LucasArts and executive producer of the original Star Wars Battlefront series. “Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell,” said Hirschmann in the press release.
The third game will be a strategy game, where Respawn will partner with Bit Reactor, a recently created game development studio led by Greg Foerstch and includes former XCOM developers. Respawn will produce the game while Bit Reactor will be leading the development.
