Dying Light 2: Stay Human Launches This December

At long last, Techland has lifted the veil with a huge update for Dying Light 2. Now being called Dying Light 2: Stay Humanthe studio announced that the much-anticipated sequel will in fact launch later this year on December 7 for multiple systems. The title was previously set to release sometime in 2020, but was delayed indefinitely due to an unfortunate studio morale situation and the COVID-19 Pandemic. The studio also showed us some stunning footage with a brand new gameplay trailer, and if this is any indication of how it will look in the final product, then we’re very excited to get our hands on this one.

The sequel has players going to the City which was described by Techland as “mankind’s last stronghold in the fight.” The game will see the return of the popular day-night cycle, as well as the signature first-person perspective with parkour mechanics. What is new is that players will take control of a brand new protagonist, Aiden Caldwell, who joins up with a group of humans called the Nightrunners.

Techland explained that as Aiden Caldwell, you’ll have to make choices that will determine who your group befriends, and who you’ll end up fighting. This also applies to other factions in the game, as the City is spread far and wide with a plethora of territory. Techland also revealed that water and electricity can be restored in certain areas of the City, which impacts how you’ll be able to traverse around the area. Each of these decisions and actions will shape the City in various ways, as well as the overall storyline which implies that there could be different outcomes.

As for the actual release of the game, Dying Light 2: Stay Human will have three different editions. There’s the Standard Edition with the base game which will be released both digitally and physically. Then there’s the Deluxe Edition which has the game, deluxe digital items, and access to the Story DLC 1. Finally, there’s the Ultimate Edition which will have the aforementioned content plus an additional set of digital items and access to the Story DLC 2. You can check out the different editions here.

Techland states that they will be sharing more information as we approach the release date. It’s possible that they’ll offer more to us during the week of E3 2021 and the Summer Game Fest. Either way, it’s a huge relief to finally see something concrete in terms of gameplay, a release date, and some of the title’s features.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will officially launch this year on December 7 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.
