Ever heard of Dragon Quest? If you have, you may have heard of its newest mobile release for Japan, Dragon Quest Tact back in February. The game will finally be released for iOS and Android devices on July 16th, with pre-orders available in the app store. Dragon Quest Tact, unfortunately, will only release in Japan; though, with little information about the game arriving in the West, there are speculations if it may be available depending on its success in Japan.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Dragon Quest is a role-playing game (RPG) developed by Japanese game developer Square Enix. The company has a history of developing popular game titles, such as Final Fantasy VII, SINoAlice, Tomb Raider, and other PlayStation favorites, and continues to produce new games and remakes. In addition, the creator of Dragon Quest Yuji Horii has been directing the development of the newest mobile game. Therefore, with much success from Mr. Horii’s and Square Enix’s previous game titles, there is great anticipation from fans for the upcoming Dragon Quest adventure.
As for the gameplay, users will take their battles on the grid-based map. While blue squares indicate where to move, users’ attacks are specified in red. In addition, with more attacks, users can level/rank up their monsters and continue their adventure through Story or Battle Mode. There will most likely be opportunities to capture monsters through these modes and the Gacha lineup, as well as a focus on collaboration among team members. The game, therefore, has little information that is publicized and has much more room for exploration once it releases in Japan.
If you would like to learn more about the game, Square Enix’s Japanese website potentially has more information for its fans. You may also check out Square Enix America’s Twitter and their website for information on their previous games depending on the country you choose.
