Dragon Age: The Veilguard Seemingly Only Has 3 Choices That Can Be Imported From Inquisition

Dragon Age as a series has struggled with its identity to say the least. The gameplay has changed in literally every game, as has the tone, the artstyle, the in-universe fashion is schizophrenic, even the characters and monsters themselves change both design and personality game by game. But one thing that Dragon Age can boast of, as with any Bioware IP worth its salt, is reactivity. The choices made in previous games has at least some impact in the games following, however it looks like finally this one last tradition from the series is going to be broken. As shown on Reddit thread as well as this article’s featured image, during the character creator for the Inquisitor, the returning main character of Dragon Age: Inquisition, there appears to be only… 3 choices that will port over into Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The choices available for players to customize are who the Inquisitor romanced, what the state of the Inquisition is come Veilguard, and the Inquisitor’s attitude towards Solas. This is extremely disappointing for the fanbase, as two events that occurred within Inquisition, namely the naming of the new Divine (the Pope figure of the Dragon Age world) as well as drinking from the Well of Sorrows (which could make either your Inquisitor or the returning Morrigan a slave to the villains in Veilguard) are omitted from the selection. This isn’t even getting in to other less important but still major decisions on the world state like if Hawke (the main character of Dragon Age 2) died in Inquisition or who is ruling Orlais (France).

It should be noted, however, that there do appear to be tabs at the top of the character creator indicating there might be more choices. However, the fact that this is the Inquisitor’s page and there are only 3 choices does not bode well for Veilguard, as this is a complete abandonment of one of the few consistent features Dragon Age had. If Inquisition only gets 3 choices moving into Veilguard then Dragon Age 2 and, most disappointingly, Dragon Age: Origins probably have even less, the community sighing in collective disappointment is an understatement to say the least and it’s no wonder that this screen specifically wasn’t shown in any of the official gameplay and creation previews that have been passed around the past few weeks.
