Diablo IV Won’t Be Coming To The Xbox Game Pass According To Rod Fergusson

Unfortunately, Diablo IV will not be headed to the Xbox Game Pass. Rod Fergusson, the Senior Vice President at Blizzard, confirmed the news in a Twitter post responding to rumors alluding to the game’s possible appearance on Game Pass.

“… We’ve been getting some questions about D4 on Game Pass and I want to let you know we have no plans for that.” said Fergusson. “See you in Sanctuary during the Beta Early Access weekend starting on March 17!”

Diablo IV’s development has been filled with both excitement and frustration since its announcement, in 2019. With its release still set for June 6, 2023, it is understandable that fans would be eager for more ways in buying the next installment in a massive game franchise when it arrives. That said, considering Diablo is a Blizzard property, it is unlikely for any of its properties to appear on the Xbox Game Pass, with the ongoing Activision Blizzard acquisition status still up in the air.

Sony and multiple government regulators have been prominent opponents of the deal since its announcement in January 2022. Sony has been particularly dedicated in the deal’s downfall, even stating recently that Microsoft’s current offered remedies would “irreparably harm ” competition within the industry.

Regardless, Diablo IV will still be widely available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Players who are interested can check out its early access beta on March 17-19 and its open beta on March 24-26. The game is set to release on June 6, 2023.
