It’s not even June and things are already heating up in the video game community. We’ve got the official return of E3 2021, and the Summer Game Fest just two days beforehand. Both events will have who’s who of video game titans, all of which are lining up to show us what they’ve been working on the past 12 months, especially Microsoft and Bethesda. One of those studios, Devolver Digital, will be present at the Summer Game Fest and has announced that they will reveal four brand new IPs as well as give us updates on some other upcoming titles.
The studio stated that the titles with the new updates will include Shadow Warrior 3, Phantom Abyss, and Death’s Door. All three are shaping up to be some of the coolest indie titles for the forsseeable future, but the real question is what Devolver Digital has planned with those other reveals. It’s possible that we’ll see another installment of some fan favorites, such as Hotline Miami and Darkest Dungeon. Sadly, it doesn’t look like the studio is going to be dropping any more hints in regards to this. Thankfully the Summer Game Fest, as well as E3 2021 is just around the corner.
Devolver Digital is of course one of the most respected and revered indie studios in the industry. They’ve also hosted their own E3-style press conference, the aptly named Devolver Direct. It’s a hilarious over-the-top parody of the standard E3 conference, complete with some random situations and the extremely popular Chief Synergy Officer Nina Struthers. They haven’t stated whether the event will return for this year’s E3, but hopefully, we’ll hear more about that in the coming weeks.
The Summer Game Fest is scheduled to take place on June 10. E3 2021 will be from June 12-15. EA will also have their own event, EA Play Live later in July.
