Pantheon is a classic champion in League of Legends and has received some changes throughout Leagues long success as a competitive MOBA. He is known to be quite deadly in the right hands and is a force to be reckoned with. Nevertheless, as the game continues to evolve, sometimes champions need reworks to keep up with the finesse many of the new champions bring. Being as old as he is, Pantheon was a prime candidate. Details on Pantheons rework have been revealed and luckily he keeps most of the qualities that make his champion unique along with a few adjustments and a striking visual update.
Pantheon is known for his preemptive yet cautious play style. His ability to pinpoint and stun unsuspecting foes makes him terrifying to face. Waiting for an opponent to make a mistake then strike gives his teammates the edge they need to pick off threats. Pantheon will keep most of his qualities but will also be granted a little more versatility. Pantheons new and improved abilities are as followed:
Pantheon passive, Mortal Will, will now give him empowered abilities after he lands 5 basic attacks. This only works with the Q, W, and E abilities. Pantheon’s Q, Comet Spear, can now stab in front of him with a Q tap. If held, Pantheon can throw his spear using a skill shot and will do extra damage to enemies with low health. If empowered the ability will do extra damage. His W, Shield Vault, will leap to a target and stun them as before. Although, If empowered, Pantheon will do 3 quick basic attacks afterward all doing reduced damage. Pantheon’s E, Aegis Assualt, places out his shield damaging foes in front of him and becoming invulnerable from any attacks in that direction. The empowered state will allow this ability to last longer. Similar to the original, when Pantheon uses his ultimate, he leaps into the air and then hurtles back toward a target location, this time, damaging enemies as he passes through them rather than simultaneously from directly above. Mortal Will activates immediately when he lands.
Still no word yet on when the new Pantheon will be released. As patch 9.15 releases and polishes many of the other champions, players can hope to see Pantheon released in the 9.16 patch. League of Legends is still free to play on PC if you’re interested in the MOBA experience.
