Borderlands 3 Character Trailer Drops Featuring Zane the Operative

In a new trailer for the upcoming Borderlands 3, Gearbox has turned their focus from the gameplay to the characters themselves. The first of the four main characters to be featured is Zane, the gruff ex-hitman in a new video called “Friends Like Zane.” You can check out the trailer below to gain an insight on one of the upcoming Vault Hunters appearing in Borderlands 3.

A self-proclaimed loner, Zane the Operative is a man of many skills and varied professions over the years, including janitor, exterminator, and plumber. As a semi-retired hitman, each job obviously involved ridding Pandora of some of the more unseemly crowd, including Psychos and what appear to be bugs that are, quite frankly, just a little too large for comfort. Zane is a man who prefers the comfort of solitude. “I guess I’ve always kind of pushed people away since I’ve bounced around a lot,” says Zane in his Irish brogue. While Zane may be a bit of a loner, he always has a friend in his Digi-Clone, who he can be seen speaking with in the bar. While it must be nice to have someone to talk to that really understands you, I’m sure it would also be nice to have a friend that actually picks up the tab before dematerializing into thin air.

The trailer shows off some of Zane’s ability loadout scattered within the lone-wolf style of Psycho execution, the obvious of which would be his Digi-Clone ability. Although we didn’t get to see much more than him sharing a drink with his flesh and bones counterpart, he can be summoned to aid Zane in a fight, causing a distraction and laying down suppressive fire. The second ability exhibited, while brief, is Zane’s Barrier ability, in which he summons a digitized shield to block incoming fire. It appears that the shield can block enemy bullets but allows Zane, and possibly allies, to shoot right through. You can check out Zane’s skill tree here.

Borderlands 3 is set for release on September 13 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. As an added bonus, the fine folks at Gearbox have hidden another SHiFT Code (WJ5TB-BJSZJ-TFB6W-JTJJJ-3Z3CB) in the roses at the end of the video which is redeemable for the Krieg Community Day Skin and 5 Gold Keys in Borderlands 2.
