Destiny 2 Lawsuit Against Cheatmakers Comes to a close with a 13.5 Million Settlement

There is big news about the Destiny 2 lawsuit. This lawsuit was filed last year in August by Bungie the developer of Destiny 2. The lawsuit was Bungie against Veterancheats, LaviCheats, and Elite Boss Tech which made cheats for Destiny 2. According to report by Andy Maxwell on Torrentfreak, Bungie accused Veterancheats, LaviCheats, and Elite Boss Tech of violating copyright laws, racketeering, fraud, money laundering, and violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

The case comes to a close as there was a settlement reached. Veterancheats, LaviCheats, and Elite Boss Tech will have to pay around 13.5 million to Bungie. The amount is because they will have to pay 2,000 for each violation of the digital millennium Copy Rights Act(17 U.S Code Section 1201 A and B). The verdict also states that anyone that works for Veterancheats, LaviCheats, and Elite Boss Tech can not sell or advertise the cheats or software made for Destiny 2.  They will also have to destroy any and all software or cheats for the game. As stated in the documents for this case,

Defendants must destroy the destiny 2 software module or any software that in any way interacts with or pertains to the plaintiff’s intellectual property.

The judgment is also permanent worldwide. no one on either Bungie or  Veterancheats, LaviCheats, and Elite Boss Tech sides can not appeal this judgment. As stated in the court documents,

The parties irrevocable and fully waive all rights to appeal this judgement and permanent injunction, ti have it vacated or set aside, to seek or obtain a new traial thereon or otherwise to attack in any way, directly or collaterally, its validity or enforceability.

This judgment will be carried out fully and without delay by Bungie Veterancheats, LaviCheats, and Elite Boss Tech.

Cheat codes in games have become a problem and make games unfair which makes players frustrated.
