Degrees of Separation Released Today For Valentine’s Day

The puzzle platformer Degrees of Separation releases today. Created by the studio Modus Games and Moondrop, and written by acclaimed game writer Chris Avellone, Degrees of Separation puts a new spin on platformers by making cooperation between two story characters vital to success. These two beings are Ember and Rime, who have fallen in love, but are separated by some “enigmatic force” attempting to keep them apart. Their story is one of adventure and determination.

Degrees of Separation’s Ember and Rime each must use their powers of fire and ice respectively on their quest to reunited with one another. Players can progress through the duel story mode alone or with a friend in multiplayer. Going at it solo truly shows the unique take that Moondrop has put into the 2D platformer by controlling Ember and Rime separately or together as a team. Also unlike most platformers, the levels that will be explored are non-linear, with each starting a new game mechanic and continuing character progression. The two lovebirds will have to solve environmental puzzles in their surroundings to make it past each landscape. Take a look at the most recent launch trailer that builds up the drama that is available to gamers today:

Appropriately, Degrees of Separation has launched on Valentine’s Day to focus prospective players or couples on the power of love and challenges that can be overcome by yourself or with another. As shown in the gameplay, the themes that the developers have created point out that opposites may attract with contrasting temperatures being the premise of the duel protagonists. Their powers come together to overcome a variety of obstacles, for example, merging together to create gusts of wind, frozen platforms, or revealing secret areas. It seems that players will feel the strife that separates the two with the hope in mind that they will be united come the story’s end.

Degrees of Separation is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
