Deep Rock Galactic released for Early Access more than three years ago and officially released in May of 2020, and the developers, Ghost Ship Games have continued to release new updates and content over the years. Recently, they have posted a Roadmap detailing the next couple of updates, including their “biggest update yet,” as they continue full speed ahead in improving their game which shows no signs of slowing. For those that are not aware, Deep Rock Galactic is co-op first-person shooter where players play as a team of dwarves and explore procedurally generated caves. Each of these dwarves has its own class: The Engineer, the Gunner, the Driller, and the Scout. The game is doing well as it has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam. Recently Deep Rock Galactic was nominated in the multiplayer category for the 2021 British Academy Games Awards.
These next two updates are dubbed Update 34 and Update 35. The former is a smaller update that adds more Modding Support, including a Save Game Profile system and a dedicated menu, as well as going through and balancing the weapons and overclocks currently available. Finally, players who use a controller can rebind their buttons similar to keys on a keyboard. This update will release sometime in April.
However, the more exciting update is Update 35. In this update, there will be a new mission type, new weapons, new overclocks, new cosmetics, and some UI improvements. This update is pretty far away for now so some of these aspects might change and new features might be added in the meantime. The developers are estimating it will be at least six months from now before we are able to get our hands on this upcoming update, so expect it sometime in late summer.
Deep Rock Galactic is available on Xbox One and PC typically for $29.99, however, right now on Steam, it is 35% off until March 14.
