Today developer Cold Iron Studios has revealed their new game set in the Alien universe, Aliens: Fireteam. The game is set to release in summer 2021, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Aliens: Fireteam is a cooperative third-person shooter set twenty-three years after the events of the original Alien trilogy. In Aliens: Fireteam, players take on the role of a Colonial Marine aboard the USS Endeavor tasked with answering a distress call from the outer colonies. Across four campaigns, players will deploy to a variety of locations including abandoned ruins, overrun facilities, and alien landscapes. Players will be able to battle hordes of creatures in each of these locations with up to two friends. Those looking to play the game alone are also able to play with two AI controlled characters.
There will be five different classes for players to choose from, each with a wide array of customizable weapons and mods to choose from. Over time players will be able to level up their characters and unlock new weapons and abilities.
Players will encounter over twenty different enemy types from the classic Xenomorph to Weyland-Yutani Synthetics. Each mission is meant to be replayable, with a special Challenge Card system that will allow players to alter missions, making every playthrough of a mission a unique experience.
Players will have to master working as a team in order to exterminate and survive the alien threat. Those hoping to play Aliens: Fireteam for its story but find the gameplay too challenging, will be able to make use of easier difficulty settings.
Aliens: Fireteam will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC summer 2021. Those interested in the game are now able to wishlist it on Steam in order to be notified when it releases worldwide.
