Kojima Productions is celebrating the third anniversary of their critically acclaimed title Death Stranding and has some exciting news to share with us. The studio, which is essentially Hideo Kojima’s own personal production team, revealed that Death Stranding has now had more than 10 million different players across its three years of being available. According to a post made by the studio, this accounts for all versions of the game across all platforms it was made available for.
As of November 8th, 2022, “DEATH STRANDING” has connected with over 10 million Porters worldwide across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.
Thank you everyone for all of your support!

This statistic also includes players accessing the game through both the PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass subscription services. It also helped that the studio released a Director’s Cut for the PlayStation 5 last year which brought more content with expanded areas and more storylines. This edition was released on PC earlier this year, which was also included on the PC version of the Xbox Game Pass. Death Stranding is perhaps one of the most divisive titles in recent memory, as Hideo Kojima famously teased the title with an assortment of cryptic-style tweets, clips, and full videos.
This culminated in the title’s release on November 8, 2019, which as we mentioned earlier, garnered plenty of praise and simultaneously received some criticism. Regardless, Death Stranding went on to be considered one of the best titles of the 2010s and has since obtained a die-hard fan base. Kojima hasn’t let up since the title was released. In addition to the extra content, the studio is also working on an unannounced project, which may have been leaked recently. Kojima himself has partnered up with Microsoft to work on a new game, which in typical Kojima fashion, has garnered plenty of interesting takes itself. Lastly, there’s the possibility that the studio might be working on a sequel to Death Stranding, something that actor/voice actor Norman Reedus himself has hinted at.
