Get ready to return back to Hell-A one final time as the last dlc expansion for Dead Island 2 is officially on its way. In the past couple days Deep Silver have been teasing what’s to come for the game, as we’ve gotten our first look at the Sola festival coming to Dead Island 2. The Sola festival being an obvious nod to the music festival culture of Los Angeles, with the development team infusing zombie horror to the summer festivities. The game itself was released in April of last year so this second expansion has been a long time coming, and it seems that the DLC will be releasing as a 1st anniversary of the game’s release, with the DLC officially releasing on April 17th.
The last DLC expansion, HAUS, showcased the dark underbelly of Los Angeles’ upper-class society. Placing the player in a cult manor that showed the darkest and dirtiest of humanity. Well, the Sola festival seems to be a complete opposite of that as Art Director Adam Olson had the following to say.
Our new DLC was really created in contrast to Haus, with Haus we wanted to create an intimate, unnerving experience. With SoLA, we wanted to build a large, sunny playground for our slayers, and it really started out when we realized that we couldn’t find any other media that had done zombies in a festival space. It’s the perfect peanut-and-jelly combination. – Adam Olson via Dead Island 2 website
The new DLC has lots in store for zombie-killing fun including the brand new festival location, where the zombies there will reflect the attendees of the music festival with glitter, facepaint, and much more detail. There will also be a new zombie type called the whipper, a zombie type that uses its own intestines as a whip at the player. Players can also expect a plethora of brand-new weapons, curveballs, and of course perks.
