Darksiders fans rejoice! The newest game in the series, Darksiders Genesis, finally has a release date. Actually, today, THQ Nordic and developer Airship Syndicate announced that the the game has two separate release dates. First, the game will release on PC and Goggle Stadia in just a few short months on December 5. Then, unfortunately, console players will have to wait until after the turn of the new year when the game comes to console on Fabruary 14, 2020.
First announced back in June, Darksiders Genesis veers off the path of the main series’ third person sytle combat. Instead, Airship Syndicate has turned the game into an isometric action adventure game in the vein of Diablo that features both local and online co-op gameplay. Not only that, the game is set before the original Darksiders, and follows the final Horseman that players haven’t been able to get their hands on yet, Strife, as well as the other Horseman, War as they discover “the origin of the Seven Seals.”
In the co-op mode, each player will control one of the two brothers. While if playing alone, you will be able to switch between the two characters at a moment’s notice. Players will use War’s close range combat and Strife’s ranged combat to devastate “hordes of demons, angels, and everything in-between.” According to the announcement from THQ Nordic and Airship Syndicate, the characters will also be able to perform special attacks “that, when activated, temporarily turns them into a colossal creature that leaves epic destruction in its wake.”
Darksiders Genesis will release on December 5, 2019 on PC and Google Stadia and on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on February 14, 2020. You can check out the newest trailer for Darksiders Genesis below:
