Guess who’s come to Tribute Games’ Marvel Cosmic Invasion? Well if you read the title you already know: X-Men leader Cyclops and Aunt Petunia’s favorite blue-eyed boy The Thing have been released for Cosmic Invasion, each with some cool color variations and their own unique spins on Cosmic Invasion’s gameplay.
It’s been a particularly good week for Cyclops, who recently got teased for NetEase’s Marvel Rivals with similar high hype fanfare, and he’s the big standout of this trailer. Cyclops optic blast variations allow him to easily control the screen and blast enemies from a safe distance, with a lot of options to control the timing and trajectory of his jumps with dive kicks and aerial blasts that freeze him in midair. According to players so far, Cyclops is among the most fun characters in the entire game so it’s a good year to be a Scott Summers fan.
Thing also has a projectile if you count throwing his body as the enemy as one. As expected of Ben Grimm he’s all about clobbering the enemy with his stone fists, he also features a fun Haggar inspired lariat and bullrush style charge move to clear the screen, as well as rolling moves that make him surprisingly mobile for a man made of rocks.
Cyclops and The Thing are DLC additions to Marvel Cosmic Invasion available now, being the first wave to DLC characters for the beat-em-up tribute. There will be additional DLC down the road in the form of new DLC characters and new game modes coming Fall of this year, maybe we’ll see some more members of the Fantastic Four or X-Men, or maybe we’ll get some more highly requested 90s and Annihilation nostalgia characters to join the 17 character cast. If you’re hankering for a return to old 90s style beat-em-ups starring 90s style Marvel characters you can’t go wrong by hopping on Marvel Cosmic Invasion and saving the universe from Annihilus.
