Cyberpunk 2077’s Official Twitter Sends Out Tweet for the First Time in Four Years

Cyberpunk 2077 is no mystery to those who have followed CD Projekt Red’s last entry into popular RPG series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Ironically, much of the upcoming RPG title is shrouded in mystery because of its lack of updates since being announced in 2012, but just today, the official Cyberpunk 2077 twitter tweeted something out for the first time in four years.

The one word tweet is just that, the word beep in between two asterisks. In just its first day of being tweeted, the nonsensical message received over 3,000 comments, 14,000 retweets, and 36,000 likes. Usually when a word is put between two asterisks, it symbolizes that a sound is being made. This tweet could be the start of some sort of secret message, or that the inactive twitter is back online, or it could be the developers having a bit of fun with the fans.

Many, however, seem to have the general consensus that something big might be just around the corner for Cyberpunk 2077.

These theories might not be so out of left field because just last year, Projekt CD Red got the engine for Cyberpunk 2077 up and running. While the game is still far off from being done anytime soon, production might be moving along enough that a nice bit of info dropped soon. In addition, Adam Kiciński, the president of CD Projekt, even teased at the possibility of the game having more information sometime in 2018.

Although it might seem ridiculous for a game to have minimal details after being announced 6 years ago, this huge delay is probably due to CD Projekt Red not wanting to cut into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s development; it is likely that no real progress has been made up until just a few months ago. This trend of developing one AAA game at a time in order to prevent spreading resources thin follows in line with Nintendo’s recent announcement of ceasing Breath of the Wild development in order to work on new Legend of Zelda game. It seems like big companies are starting to value more quality over quantity in their games, and hopefully the wait for Cyberpunk 2077 will be worth it.
