Cyberpunk 2077 Will Have Most of Its Cutscenes Locked Into First-Person Perspective

Recently, CD Project Red released information about their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. According to both Polygon and Twitter, Cyberpunk 2077’s will largely be seen from a first-person perspective. This is a major shift from the cutscenes in their previous game series, The Witcher. The reasons for this shift as stated by CD Projekt Red’s global community lead Marcin Marmot via Tweet are because the company wanted to provide players with an even more immersive experience than The Witcher III.

He has also stated that players would still be able to see their character by opening the inventory screen, as well as in several other scenarios, such as during driving sequences, in mirrors, as well as in a few cutscenes. However, all scenes involving sexual content in the game will be seen from a first-person perspective. Recently, CD Projekt Red released new gameplay footage as well as a Q&A session with the level designer at CD Projekt Red, Miles Tost, as well as two other members of the company. The Q&A session of the Deep Dive showed off some of the district of Pacifica, one of the districts the player will visit in Cyberpunk 2077. Miles talked about how because Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a single city, the team had to pay attention to the design of each district and make sure that each one brought their own unique flavor to the game. This can be seen in the description of the district as “one of those places where expectations and reality collided resulting in a heap of dissapointment.”

Recently, the studio released their financial report for 2019, and with it, a stunning revelation. CD Projekt Red has decided to focus on two franchises. The company will be working on games for both The Witcher series, as well as creating more games for Cyberpunk 2077 after it releases in April of 2020. This means that gamers will be able to enjoy more content for the Cyberpunk 2077 game as it becomes a franchise rather than a stand alone game. Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing for PC,  Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
