Cyberpunk 2077 Could Be Coming Next Year

After the popular success of last year’s The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, fans are no doubt looking forward to developer CD Projekt RED’s next game, Cyberpunk 2077, and now it looks like fans won’t have to wait much longer. The game could finally be released as soon as next year, and people can finally stop joking that its going to be released in 2077. A Swedish retailer, Komplett, put up listing for Cyberpunk 2077 with a release date for September 30th, 2017. The now updated page also includes information suggesting that a beta could be coming as soon as February.

It should be noted, however, that retail listings should sometimes be taken with a grain of salt. September 30th does happen to be the last day of next year’s third quarter, so its possible the date is just a placeholder for the game coming out sometime during that season. Still, Q3 2017 is much sooner than what was previously expected for Cyberpunk 2077. So far, CD Projekt RED has given several conflicting projections as to when the game would be released, with some estimates being a few years away.

Next year might seem too good to be true, especially considering CD Projekt RED has recently been applying for grants related to the game’s technology. But they’ve also already spent four years developing the game, and they’ve had a much larger team working on it than they had for The Witcher III, so nothing’s really certain. For now, player’s should hope for next year, but not get too attached to that idea.
