It’s no question that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the HD remake for the PS4 of the first three games in the orange blur’s series, has quickly become one of the most popular and successful games this year. It sold so well, that it actually saved the failing video game retail market in the UK. But recent news from Business Wire reveals that the game has sold so well, that it has actually become the top-selling physical game in the world for June 2017.
During the “Crash Bandicoot Then and Now” panel at San Diego Comic Con, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg announced the release of an infamous unfinished level known as “Stormy Ascent.” Hirshberg also casually dropped this mind-blowing news:
The fan response to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has been tremendous with the title landing at number one worldwide in physical game sales…
What makes this achievement all the more impressive is the fact that the N. Sane Trilogy was released on June 30th. That means, despite only having two days to beat every other game that had been out that month, Crash still came out on top.
Even though there weren’t any other major releases this month, its still a very impressive feat for a game to come in No. 1 with only two days on sale. These highly successful sales will no doubt lead to Activision considering making more Crash games in the future, which will likely please many nostalgic fans.
As for the news of “Stormy Ascent” being playable for the first time, it will be part of an all-new DLC pack. The DLC is free for the next 30 days, but will cost $3 afterwards.
