Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and Nintendo Switch Next Month

Activision and developer Toys for Bob have announced that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be officially launching for the current generation of consoles. The latest entry in the long-running franchise will release on March 12 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch. In addition, a PC version will be released through Blizzard Entertainment’s online launcher, Battle.net at a later time. This is the latest in an already long line of games that were released right before Sony and Microsoft’s new line of home consoles that are getting the next-gen upgrade, which Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is no exception as the studio also unveiled a brand new trailer showcasing this to boot.

As expected, both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will get a significant upgrade in the visual department. Both versions will be able to run at a native 4K resolution while staying at a brisk 60 frames per second, while the Series S will render in an upscaled 4K. We’ll also see faster loading times thanks to the console utilizing the Solid State Drives (SSD). The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller will have special features when playing the game when using different abilities and when enemies attack with special weapons.

The PC version will support uncapped framerates otherwise defaulting to the aforementioned 60 frames per second. No concrete information was given on the specs of the Nintendo Switch version, but it’ll more than likely run about the same as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One settings. Following the course with other titles that made the jump to next-gen, Activision is also giving players the chance to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for free, albeit if you already own the game on either console already.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time originally launched in October 2020, and was generally well-received by reviewers and critics alike. In our own review, we described the game as challenging but extremely fun and rewarding “Crash 4 is an incredible franchise revival that does more than just tug at nostalgic heartstrings.” Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will launch on March 12 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch. The PC version will launch through Battle.net sometime later in 2021.
