Control Reaches 10 Million Player Milestone and Announces Future Plans

Remedy Entertainment, the company behind action game Control, released an investor letter today, August 13, 2021, recapping the first half of 2021 and announcing plans for the future. In that time, Control Ultimate Edition was launched on February 2nd for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The letter revealed information about the finances of the game and other statistics. Hugely, the letter reported that Control has been played by over 10 million players, and their active marketing strategies have been successful.

Following the news of this success, the letter also revealed that work has begun on a 4 player PVE spinoff set in the Control world, called Candor. Candor will have the luxury of having a much larger budget than Control, and will be developed in collaboration with 505 Games. CEO Tero Vitalia wrote some comments about his pride over the company’s success to accompany the letter.

I am happy with the progress we have made so far in 2021. Our financial position is stronger than before. Control continues to reach new players, expands into new games, and is a strong proof of our ability to create category defining games and brands. Our multi-project model is continuously developing and we are approaching a phase where we can launch new games more often and more regularly. We are on track to reach our ambitious long-term growth objectives.

Remedy Entertainment will continue to expect to see Control grow and be successful financially, and they are still actively marketing the game. They are also working on several other games unrelated to Control, looking to make a name for themselves as a studio that consistently creates high quality and enjoyable games. The letter ended with, “Majority of the revenue and operating profit growth is expected to materialize during the second half-year period,” showing the upward momentum expected in the upcoming months for the growing company.
