Appropriately timed and named, Cities: Skylines – Campus is coming to PC players so that they can unlock buildings from the education sector. Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive have officially declared that school is out! Right in time for youth around the country to finish up classes and head into the summer, the developers are doing the opposite and bringing players back to school. Campus focuses on building university institutions that can fit any kind of student.
The new Campus Area tool allows players to precisely zone a custom area to properly place a university. Building this school will have no limits in size and shape and will include unique management options, customization, and a plethora of buildings. The liberal arts, trade and all sorts of specialized schools will be available. Campus brings five types of varsity sports arenas and nine more faculties, five new maps, and seven achievements to challenge players. Take a look at the beginning of the Campus Areas tutorial:
In order to unlock new buildings and attractions for students to attend the school, players will need to create Academic Works. From there they can bring special buildings, basketball, football, baseball, swimming, and track and field to the campus. Once established, the teams’ jerseys can be customizes and the management of coaches, arenas, selling tickets, busses, and security units can be chosen.
Alongside Campus, DLC packs will be available to purchase that add to the university experience. Campus Rock Radio introduces DJ Claude Couture and the many Teen Pop and Rock music that will no doubt suck players right into the college feel. The next DLC is the Content Creator Pack: University City. This pack adds 36 low-density residential buildings, 32 low-density commercial buildings, and 15 props like signs and logos all to imitate student residents in the surrounding university area. Finally, Deep Focus Radio can add some melodic Lo-Fi study music brought by DJ “Deep Thought.”
Cities: Skylines – Campus will be added to the Steam store on May 21. Also, for more information from the Colossal Order developers on the making of this content, check out their Dev Diary here.
