The action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 has had a long and controversial history since its release in September of 2020. Initially released for download and purchase on September 17th, the game was glitchy and buggy to the point where it was eventually pulled from the PlayStation Store and issued with a warning on other consoles. However, things seem to be looking up for Cyberpunk 2077, because as of this week, developers are saying that the game has finally reached ‘a satisfying level’ of performance.
Adam Kiciński, the CEO of CD Projekt, the company that developed Cyberpunk 2077, released statement about the quality of gameplay in Cyberpunk 2077 during WSE Innovations Day (via TVN24).
“We have reached a satisfying level in this regard [stability]… We have also been working on improving the overall quality, which we are also quite happy about. Of course, we also removed bugs and visual glitches and we will continue to do that.”
However, this wasn’t all that Kiciński had to say. The CEO also announced future developments coming to Cyberpunk 2077.
“Over time, we will also be introducing improvements to the general game systems that players have highlighted.”
While Kiciński didn’t go into specifics about what these future ‘improvements’ will be, fans speculate they could be about anything from NPC interactions to character customization.
So what does this mean for Cyberpunk 2077’s future? Well, first of all, the game has been re-released onto the PlayStation store. This came as exciting news for CD Projekt, who believed that large part of their sales gap was due to the unavailability of the game on the PlayStation Store. However, Sony issued warning stating that downloading the game on the PS4 is still not recommended due to persisting technical issues. Likewise, Microsoft announced that they will soon be ending their no-questions-asked return policy for Cyberpunk 2077.
These announcements come as exciting news to fans of the highly-anticipated game. With a more stable and consistent gameplay experience and a promise of more to come, fans of Cyberpunk 2077 may finally be able to enjoy the game at its best. Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for download or purchase for PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows.
