South Korea-based studio REMIMORY has announced Castaway Diary: Portal to the Unknown Isles, a bright anime-style survival adventure, for PC via Steam Early Access in 2026. No exact Early Access launch date has been revealed, but the studio’s Early Access Q&A confirms that the core gameplay loop will be fully playable from day one.
In Castaway Diary, players take on the role of charming young girls stranded on mysterious, unknown isles after passing through a dimensional portal. The game has a different take on survival, and it leans into a positive, healing-style “slow-life” vibe where the cast refuses to give up and always looks forward to a brighter tomorrow. Whether playing solo or in online co-op, the focus stays on heartwarming island life, vibrant costumes, and the simple joy of building a new home while hoping to find a way back.
Gameplay blends classic survival and life-sim elements with light exploration and combat. Players gather resources, fish, cook, and craft everything from tools to custom outfits using the island’s natural materials. A reliable mount makes roaming the vast archipelago easy, while mysterious dungeons offer adorable monsters to hunt and new areas to discover. Base building lets you decorate your home inside and out, tend to farms, and create a personal paradise. The developers emphasize high freedom in housing, farming, and fashion, with co-op supporting shared house-building and dungeon runs.
All core systems including building, farming, hunting, gathering, fishing, cooking, and costume crafting are already implemented and ready at Early Access launch. REMIMORY plans to keep the title in Early Access for approximately 1.5 to 2 years, adding new islands, ecosystems, collectibles, and quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback. The full version will expand the explorable world and deepen the experience, with pricing expected to rise upon final release to reflect the added content.
