Capcom’s PC Updates: New Street Fighter 5 Beta, Dragon’s Dogma System Specs, and Steam OS Compatibility for Street Fighter 5

In an effort to modernize, Capcom has been taking great strides over the past few years to involve themselves with the ever-growing PC gaming market. Several announcements made today by the Japanese giant on their website provide testimony to their efforts.

First on Capcom’s list: Street Fighter V’s third beta testing period launches tomorrow for both PC and PlayStation 4. The beta will be live from December 18, 12:01 AM PST, to December 20, 10:00 PM PST, and will feature the following characters: Ryu, Birdie, Cammy, Necalli, Nash, and Laura, with Dhalsim and Zangief to be released later during the beta period.

Capcom teased additional characters in the above blog post by stating that “there might be a few more character surprises along the way!” Though unlikely, it is possible that SFV’s latest reveal, F.A.N.G., might make an appearance in the beta.

Ranked matches, casual matches, training mode, and leaderboards will be available during the beta.

You can check out some gameplay of Dragon’s Dogma, featuring the PC port’s glorious 60fps, in the video below:

Pre-ordering Dragon’s Dogma on Steam will net you a digital artbook and a digital soundtrack for no additional cost. Among other features, the PC port will include all of the game’s DLC, achievements, controller support, and re-mappable keybinds for keyboard players.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen’s PC port will release on January 15, 2016.

Finally, Capcom has announced that they have partnered with Valve to support Street Fighter V on Valve’s Linux-based Steam OS. Tomorrow’s SFV beta will support Steam controllers, as will Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. All things considered, it will be interesting to see how Street Fighter‘s traditional move inputs, like quarter-circle fireball motions and zig-zag dragon punch motions, will play out on the Steam controller’s ‘tactile’ interface.

Peter “Combofiend” Rosas states in the above blog post that Capcom will be releasing more details on this partnership in the days to come. Whether or not this announcement is an indication of other Capcom titles making their way to Steam OS has yet to be confirmed, though it’s a very likely possibility, and is sure to leave Capcom fans eager for more news.
