September 2022 continues to be the month of video game announcements. Today, Capcom had fans around the world enamored with their hotly anticipated online showcase, featuring anticipated reveals for titles including Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil Village, and more. Here was everything Capcom revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2022.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
The online program opened with a new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, showcasing new threats players will face in the upcoming Title Update 2. Players will face off against new monsters such as the Violet Mizutsune and an Elder Dragon. Title Update two will introduce a new tier of Anomaly Quests, expand Anomaly Investigations, increase the 120-level cap, and add new afflicted materials.
Players can unlock new options for Qurious Crafting, including Anomaly Slots and other upgrades for weapons like the newly introduced layered weapons. This new system lets players change the appearance of their weapons and combine stats and designs. Finally, this update also includes new paid DLC such as the Master Arlow layered armor set, layered weapons, gestures, poses, hairstyles, and more. Players can look forward to more extensive updates when Title Update 3 launches in late November 2022.
Street Fighter 6
Capcom showcased huge new updates for World Tour and Battle Hub in Street Fighter 6. World Tour will now allow players to create avatars “…with a multitude of customization options to reflect their styles and flair.” The avatars will grow in strength as players progress through the story mode and learn special moves from masters like Ryu and Chun-Li. In Battle Hub, players can take their avatars and fight against other players in online tournaments. Players can also visit the Game Center to play retro Capcom classics like Street Fighter II and Final Fight.
Following that, Capcom introduced Extreme Battle mode, which offers players new ways “…to spice up matches” with new Rules and Gimmicks. Rules define the victory condition for players, while Gimmicks add a new level of fun such as a stampeding bull sporadically interrupting a match. Capcom then highlighted legacy characters returning to Street Fighter 6, showcasing their all-new stylish designs. Legacy characters that returned include Ken, Balanka, Dhalsim, and E. Honda.
Capcom then revealed two more commentators for Street Fighter 6’s Real-Time Commentary feature: Kosuke Hiraiwa, a well-known Japanese Esports caster, and His Excellency Demon Kakka, the lead singer of Japanese heavy metal band Seikima-II. While they will commentate your matches in Japanese, there will be accompanying subtitles for any of the 13 supported languages displayed on the screen if they are selected.
Capcom revealed a cross-play Closed Beta Test for Street Fighter 6 starting from October 7 to October 10, 2022, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The Beta Test will include Ranked Match, Casual Match, Battle Hub Match, Open Tournament, Extreme Battle, Game Center, and Training Mode. Eight characters will be playable during the test including Ryu, Chun-Li, Luke, Jamie, Guile, Kimberly, Juri, and Ken. Resident Evil
The Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will arrive on October 28, 2022, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Steam, and Stadia. Capcom showcased new animations for Ethan Winters from the anticipated “Third Person Mode.” The video also gave a look into the upcoming “Shadows of Rose” DLC following an older Rose Winters 16 years after the main game. Following that a glimpse of the new “The Mercenaries Additional Orders” was shown, mainly Lady Dimitrescu summoning insect swarms to exterminate her enemies.
Following the recent announcement of Resident Evil Village Cloud for Nintendo Switch, Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village will release for Mac sometime in 2022. Finally, the remake for Resident Evil 4 was confirmed to be in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Fans can expect more information about the upcoming remake to be revealed at the Resident Evil Showcase in October 2022.
Exoprimal
Capcom revealed a new trailer for Exoprimal, an upcoming team-based action game, revealing more of its story and introducing two new dinosaurs: the dilophosaurus and the carnotaurus. Following an outbreak of dinosaurs that engulf the globe, you follow the protagonist Ace as the transport plane carrying his Exofighter unit crash-lands on Bikitoa Island. There, they are forced to fight for survival against hordes of dinosaurs and work together to escape the island.
Players will take on these threats with two newly revealed Exosuits. Skywave supports allies with flight, healing abilities, and hampering enemy vision and movement. Murasame “…tanks enemy against assaults from all sides before unleashing powerful counterattacks with its katana, Kiri-Ichimonji.” Players have a variety of choices in the customization of their Exosuits, emotes, and enhancements. These extensive options even extend to the main protagonist, Ace, who can be fully personalized with the character creator. Exoprimal launches in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection
Lastly, Capcom revealed more information on the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. A voiced 3D version of Mega Man.EXE will navigate alongside players on the title select screen, showcasing various reactions based on gameplay and control style. Additionally, Director Masakazu Eguchi announced the development of online features including online battle and chip trading for each title in the series.
